My 1983 Grad from Lavallee with Murray Golub, RIP Mr G. you are "The Greatest" teacher. Your coaching me in volleyball, and teaching us about Poe and our rock hound excursion in Souris were some of the greatest times I ever had during my school years - Karen Allen

Mr. Golub...yet again you have caught me off guard as you always did.  But you always did prefer having the upper hand on us kids.  I am so saddened to hear of your passing but I am feeling so absolutely fortunate to have been inspired, mentored and enabled by someone as passionate about life, love and education as you were.  I met you back in 1990 at Lavallee School and right off the hop, you blew me away with your tenacity for pounding the arts into our heads.  An ability to instill values, esteem and self-worth in a group of individuals who were otherwise directionless as so many youth are in junior high.  I can still remember wondering if I should be scared of you or admire your talent when you sited various passages from works of prose by Edgar Allan Poe while demanding that we shout back to you what figures of speech were used in each verse.  You introduced myself and countless others to the wonders of literature, ancient days and spoke of real life love in a way I have yet to hear anyone else discuss the subject outside of a Hollywood movie.  I have shared many of the same adventures and passions I had experienced thanks to you with young family.  My wife, children and I have ventured into the agate pits out in Souris and I am often finding myself express to my eldest how fortunate she would be if ever she had a teacher in her life like Mr. Golub.  The absolute best years of my youth were at Lavallee School with You, Ms. Lori Miller, Mr. Dave Gowryluk and Madame Zamonski.  Thank you so very much for all you gave, all of your inspiration and everything you instilled in this once young man.
- Rob Burnett (You knew me as Robbie Hamill)

Mr Golub was the only teacher who actually made me feel like I had any worth, and that I might actually be intelligent and be able to understand something if I set my mind to it. I am very thankful for having the opportunity to be touched by such an amazing human being. To this day I still remember the meanings for "hyperbole" "simile" "metaphor" "otomatapia" because of him getting through my thick skull!...LOL!! I really hope I spelt those correct!! My condolences to you and your family. - Beau Belharry

When you learn that one of the people that have had the biggest impact in your life has passed away, it leaves you with a heavy, dark heart. Mr. Murray Golub, was an angel on this planet and he will be sorely missed. He forever changed my life, and I doubt I would have accomplished all I have accomplished without his guidance. Kind words whispered in my ear at my grade 9 graduation are remembered just as clearly today. You were the best teacher I've ever had and I'll miss you terribly!!!! Be at peace, and all the best to your family! - Jack R. Wood

R.I.P. Mr. Golub. This is exactly what I remember you looked like. You were the greatest teacher I ever had. Gone but never forgotten! - Courtney Smith

My most sincere condolences to the entire Golub family. This great man had a profound effect on me and many others. His passion for learning and the written word were immense and highly contagious. He caused me to look deeper into words, names, phrases: to see what they were 'really saying'. In that; what I am really saying is that I will miss you. All we ever hope for in life is to know that we won't be forgotten and that we truly made a difference. That being said; in my experience and reading the many other posts by numerous students of life, it is clear that Mr. Murray Golub was a very successful person, in the classroom and out. Respect, always, Mr. G. RIP. - Chris Bonin

RIP, you were an amazing teacher and human being, you will be missed and will be remembered every time I look at my coin collection that you helped me start. - Jared Hum

RIP Mr. Murray Golub. My heart goes out to your family. You will be missed by so many people. You touched so many lives. Most insightful and interesting teacher period. Learning about dinosaurs, coins and Can't forget about dance lessons, which was obviously my favourite. Also going for lunches with a few of us even after we were done school! Thank you for keeping in touch, where most teachers won't do that, you were exactly what a teacher is supposed to be. God bless. - Sasha Renaud

Mr. Golub had a list of students that said anything grammatically incorrect on the wall on a big poster in the classroom! It was called the clumb club because he remembered a student (I'm not sure who it was) that was telling him a story once of how "he clumb the tree!"  I am still aware of my grammar because of the Clumb Club. :) - Maria Roy

I am so sorry for your loss. Murray was my favorite Ebay customer. He knew the history of Canada, and he taught me many things He was so pleasant to work with. He will be missed. - Jen Smith

So sorry for your loss.......Mr. Golub's legendary lapidary classes and our trips to Carberry in search of precious stones and his love for Edgar Allan Poe will be some of my fondest memories! One of the greatest teachers I ever had.
- Paul Jansen

My condolences Mark, your dad was one very special guy. Whenever I see a particularly spectacular toned silver coin I think of him even though we hadn't seen each other in some time. He had a keen eye for beauty even in something considered undesirable. He will be missed. - Andy Dunlop

My condolences. What an amazing teacher he was. To this day, when I'm in meetings and training sessions, I still take notes using his "Golubian Method" (I may have misspelled that). May peace find his soul. - Moe Peyawary

Rip Mr. Golub. You were an amazing teacher and one of the few that ever got through to me, you made a real difference in my life and I'm sure in the lives of all of your students. Thank you for teaching me how to write like a pro and speak like a "young lady" and of course for teaching us how to dance with class at our grade nine graduation. You will never be forgotten! - Amy Balkaran

Best teacher, HANDS DOWN!! this man taught me what a praying mantis was, helped me get over my fear of one and also taught me how to keep one as a pet! Not only that, I know how to use there, their and they're in their proper context thanks to Mr. Golub!! My deepest condolences to the family. He really was a great man. RIP Murray Golub- Leyla Angel

So sad to be reading this post. Your dad and I go back a long way. He was such a character! From fundraising to take his students on digging expeditions to teaching them proper dancing techniques for their grad to listening and guiding them through their tough spots in life he was more than their teacher. He was also a friend to so many. He met all his challenges head on and smiled throughout. When he first started having his surgeries I asked him how he was and he said good. I said but how is your head, and he said no, I am good! And you know what, he was! He was so proud of his family and spoke often of you. Take care and god bless. Murray, you've given me many great memories, and i thank you, now rest in peace. - Linda Mager

Murray was the BEST husband and father anyone could ever want or ask for. - Marilyn, Mark & Michael Golub
